JAM CAMP WEST is an exciting, creative and fun 7-day (6-night) music, dance and vocal program held in the beautiful redwoods of Loma Mar, Northern California. Designed for 10-15 year olds, Jam Camp exposes kids to contemporary musical trends along with the cultural underpinnings of jazz. In addition, fun outdoor activities and creative adventures are held each day.
A great alternative to traditional music camps, Jam Camp is an inclusive, supportive program where all classes are taught by ear, offering hands-on group experiences for all levels and an array of classes that can reach kids through a diverse blend of musical styles and sounds they are listening to today.
Campers create a personal schedule from over 25 noncompetitive workshops offered each day. The curriculum offers instrumental ensembles taught by ear in rock, jazz, and blues; various styles of vocals; hip-hop and jazz dance; steeldrum; percussion; beatbox; turntables; beat laboratory; spoken word; songwriting, theory, and more.
Our classroom is the majestic redwood forest, where talented professionals, and carefully chosen counselors and CIT’s serve as role models and mentors. In this magnificent setting, we hope to provide a truly inspirational experience while building self-reliance, teamwork, a sense of social responsibility, and community with a potentially life-changing opportunity to reconnect with the natural world. Most importantly, we hope to share a joyful week with our growing Jam Camp West family.
